Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are and What This Policy Covers
MILE Architecture (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a Calgary-based architecture firm. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information through our website at milearchitecture.ca (the “Site”). We comply with Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and other applicable privacy laws. We collect and use personal information with your consent, which may be express or implied depending on the circumstances.

3. What We Collect
When you contact us through the Site, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email, phone number, and details about your project inquiry. Our Site also collects basic technical information automatically (such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited) through cookies and analytics tools.
4. How We Use It
We use the personal information we collect to:
Respond to your inquiries and follow up on potential projects.
Send you information you’ve requested or agreed to receive.
Operate, maintain, and improve the Site.
Comply with our legal and professional obligations.
5. Cookies and Analytics
Our Site uses cookies for three purposes: essential cookies that allow the Site to function, analytics cookies (Squarespace’s built-in analytics and Google Analytics) that help us understand how the Site is used, and preference cookies that remember your choices. When you first visit, a cookie banner allows you to accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. If you are a resident of Quebec, we obtain your express consent for non-essential cookies as required under Law 25.
6. Who We Share Information With
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
Service providers that help us operate the Site and our business — currently Squarespace (website hosting), Google Analytics, and Google Workspace / Microsoft 365 (email). These providers are contractually required to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we authorize.
Authorities where required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
7. Storage Outside Canada
Some of our service providers (including Squarespace and Google) store data on servers located in the United States. While stored there, your information may be subject to U.S. law.
8. Security and Breach Notification
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your personal information, including HTTPS encryption and vendor due diligence. No system is 100% secure, but if we ever become aware of a breach that poses a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the appropriate regulator(s) as required by law.
9. How Long We Keep It
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, and in accordance with our professional record-keeping obligations under the Architects Act (Alberta). When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.
10. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access the personal information we hold about you.
Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
Withdraw your consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
Request deletion of personal information that is no longer required.
To make a request, contact our Privacy Officer (Section 2). We will respond within the timeframes required by law (generally 30 days).
11. Complaints
If you have a concern, please contact our Privacy Officer first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with:
Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca)
Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca)

12. Children’s Privacy
Our Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 14 for residents of Quebec).
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date above. Please review this Policy periodically.
